The Canal Parade is the highlight of Gay Pride week. One hundred boats adorned with decorations and fine specimens of the human form, cruise along the Prinsengracht and Amstel canals to Oosterdok. The mood is one of pure celebration as each float tries to out-do the one before it.
Gay Pride weekend is packed with events and themed parties. Circuit parties will take you to a variety of hot spots around the city, while street parties are larger get-togethers that attract the partiers to them with their “anything goes” attitude! Where to goIf you’re looking to drink and have fun, check out the bars along Reguliersdwarsstraat, the city’s gay district. In the summer, the street is closed to vehicles, and people party long into the night. April is one of the largest gay bars in Amsterdam and boasts a revolving bar at the back of the building.
