Van Gogh Museum

This Amsterdam museum holds the largest Van Gogh collection in the world. With paintings, drawings and letters from Van Gogh as well as works by his contemporaries Gaugin, Toulouse-Lautrec, L’Hermitte and Millet, this is a 19thcentury art lover’s dream.

Artis Zoo

Part museum, part aquarium, part zoo and part planetarium, Artis Zoo is a favorite attraction for tourists and Amsterdam citizens alike. You can visit the geological and zoological museums to learn more about the evolution of animals, or see live animals in the aquarium and botanical gardens.

Anne Frank Museum

The Anne Frank Museum is the historical house in which Anne and her family hid for two years during the Nazi occupation of Amsterdam. Visit this astounding piece of history on the Prinsengracht (Prince's Canal) to get a real feel for what Anne and her family endured while you learn about Anne’s diary, the Holocaust, and other history of World War II.

The Amsterdam Sex Museum displays an extensive collection of toys, apparatus, literature and artifacts from all over the world that have one thing in common – sex! Hermitage Amsterdam Museum

The building that houses the Hermitage Amsterdam Museum is an historic piece in its own right. Built in 1682 as a home for the elderly, the building is an example of the Classicist period in Amsterdam architecture. The Resistance Museum is dedicated to honoring the Dutch Resistance during World War II. The collection of exhibits, artifacts, documents and displays highlight the rise of the Resistance and right-wing parties in the Netherlands.

Netherlands Maritime Museum

Netherlands and Amsterdam commemorate their maritime heritage with the Netherlands Maritime Museum located in the 300-year-old National Naval Depot. The lengthy nautical tradition is honored with a large collection of maritime paraphernalia such as scale models, maps, weapons and paintings dating back to the 16thcentury. A permanent outdoor replica of the Dutch East India Company tall ship called Amsterdam shows visitors the space sailors had to live in for months at a time.

The Rembrandt House Museum

Rembrandt is considered the preeminent Dutch master painter and one of the finest European painters and printmakers in history. The museum that bears his name is located in the house he inhabited from 1639 to 1658 on the Jodenbreestraat in Amsterdam. A large collection of his paintings and etchings are exhibited here in the very house in which they were created.
